Greg McDermott is a true teacher. As you watch this All Access video series you will see first hand how his methods really get his players to play for him.

In the initial practices of the 2012-13 season, Coach McDermott details his up tempo offensive system while incorporating strategies to improve his defense. Watch as McDermott guides his team through the drills and techniques they use to improve the defensive system that has enabled them to be successful within the Missouri Valley Conference and drive deep into the NCAA tournament.

McDermott also opens his playbook to give you a detailed look at their set plays and half-court offense.

Practice 1:
Get a first-hand look at over 20 sets that deliver a quick hitting strike. You will learn all the counters and options off of Creighton's Blitz package plus a few baseline out of bounds sets you can put right into your offensive playbook. Once you finish his detailed set play guide, you will learn how to defend various actions within their set play package. Your offense will become unstoppable as your players develop the necessary IQ to counter what the defense throws their way.

Practice 2:
In the afternoon session, Coach demonstrates his knowledge on the defensive end of the floor by providing you with detailed drills the Jays use to build their defensive scheme. These drills will challenge your players to pay attention to detail and mentally focus during every minute on the floor. He uses a competitive 5v5 quarter court drill to incorporate defensive build up and execution on the offensive end. Challenge your players to dig deep on the defensive end to get the important stop you need to win a game.

Practice 3:
For the bulk of this first practice of Day 2, Coach McDermott breaks out into station work where he demonstrates how to defend the flare screen, post to post cross screen, back screen from the wings, and ball screen action from the wing. He uses the Superman Closeout Drill to teach effective closeouts from the help side position and create repeatable habits for defenders.

Practice 4:
McDermott puts everything together in this final all access practice session. He incorporates competitive 5v5 drills that incorporate the techniques learned in the previous sessions. You will see a comprehensive drill called Continuous Sets where your players will have to learn game flow, communication, and mental toughness as they are put through half court offense, transition, half court defense and back again in a game setting.

Drill after drill is all about competing to make you and your team better. You can sense the players enjoying the opportunity to showcase their talents and opportunities to get better. This all access practice is ideal for any high school coach looking to improve their defensive philosophy and learn new offensive sets that will raise the basketball IQ of their team.

336 minutes (4 DVDs). 2013.
